- The National Consumer Affairs Foundation (NCAF) in the Philippines honors Western Union with the Family Consumer Choice Award for Best Money Courier Service.
- The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) awards First Data a Gold Pick (first place) award for outstanding PR results surrounding the launch of a Western Union service allowing consumers to pay cash via Western Union for Continental Airlines electronic tickets.
- Western Union is recognized in the America’s Greatest Brands book as one of the top leading brands for the first time.
- The First Data Western Union Foundation receives the “National Philanthropy Day in Colorado” award for outstanding foundations.
