Western Union makes it easier consumers and businesses in the United States and Canada to quickly, reliably and conveniently transfer funds, send bill payments, or pre-pay for phone, Internet or credit cards using our proprietary money transfer network. We provide one of the largest networks in the United States and Canada of over 59,800 Agents, including Orlandi Valuta and Vigo Agent locations.

Our core business in the region includes:

  • Money Transfer in person, online at westernunion.com, or over the phone by calling
    1-800-CALL-CASH®;
  • Bill Payment for mortgages, insurance, auto loans and phone bills;
  • Prepaid Services for consumers who prefer pay-as-you-go services such as wireless phone service or debit card benefits, at participating Agent locations in the U.S.;
  • The Western Union® Gold Card for members of our loyalty and rewards program to enjoy benefits such as service fee reductions, free phone time, merchandise and gift cards.

We continue to evolve our business based on the needs of the consumers in the region.

 
Quick Facts about the Region:
  • In 2006, consumer-to-consumer transactions between and within the U.S. and Canada accounted for 14% of Western Union’s revenue.
  • At the end of 2007, the loyalty program had more than 9 and a half million active cards, primarily in the U.S.
  • In the U.S., approximately 45% of consumers initiate Western Union transactions using a Gold Card.
  • The company announced in January 2008 that it had extended its agreement with Delhaize-US to offer Western Union services at 1,120 locations nationwide.
