PARIS, 29 MAY 2017 – The Western Union Company, a leader in global payment services, and Franprix, a leading convenience store retailer, are offering this unique service in France for transferring money internationally in a fast, easy and reliable manner to 200 countries and territories around the world.
In order to respond to the mobile needs and new habits of their consumers, Western Union and Franprix are launching a new service ‘Click&Pay’ available via the Western Union mobile app. Bridging the gaps between the digital and physical worlds, this service allows consumers to initiate their money transfer via the mobile app in a couple of clicks from wherever they are, before proceeding to their preferred Franprix store to validate and pay for their money transfer at the checkout. Consumer can, therefore, choose the most convenient way in which to initiate their money transfer, either from the self-service WU kiosks already installed in-store since March 2016, or from their smartphone.
Grégory Laurent, Country Director France at Western Union, explains: « We are committed to supporting our consumers with the evolving use of technology, offering them adapted solutions. This new innovative money transfer offer represents a new step in the implementation of the Company’s omnichannel strategy. Western Union wants to make life easier for its consumers and it cannot be denied that today we live in a world in which the digital and physical worlds come together as one and that is revolutionising out daily life. With the ‘Click&Pay’ mobile offering, we are giving them the possibility to send money at anytime, anywhere and in any way they want. »
To date, more than 100 points of sale have been equipped with the Western Union self-service kiosks, mostly in France’s largest cities. By the end of 2017, Western Union plans to install its kiosks, together with the ‘Click&Pay’ mobile offering, at more than 300 points of sale.
For Franprix, this collaboration is a new opportunity to facilitate the daily life of its consumers. The presence of the WU self-service kiosks fits perfectly with its new Mandarine store concept, launched in May 2015, with the objective of incorporating a number of practical in-store services for the convenience of its clientele. At any hour of the day within the opening hours of the store, and without having to make several trips, Franprix’s customers can benefit from the service of sending money via Western Union. In just a few steps, sending money to our loved ones is becoming as easy as filling your shopping cart.
